Stuck in the 80's Music

I am thankful to youtube.com for being around. Lately, it has become my favorite platform for entertainment, mainly for searching, watching and listening to old MTV clips.

Since I have forgotten most of the songs' titles and the bands, typing part of the lyrics in the search bar usually does the job. Quite convenient to someone who is becoming forgetfull lately. Definitely, it has something to do with ageing. Oh well...

Negativity in the scientific community

I was reading a wikipedia entry on Nicola Tesla and came upon these quotes.

When asked about Thomas Edison, his former boss, he said,

He had no hobby, cared for no sort of amusement of any kind and lived in utter disregard of the most elementary rules of hygiene ... His method was inefficient in the extreme, for an immense ground had to be covered to get anything at all unless blind chance intervened and, at first, I was almost a sorry witness of his doings, knowing that just a little theory and calculation would have saved him 90 per cent of the labor. But he had a veritable contempt for book learning and mathematical knowledge, trusting himself entirely to his inventor's instinct and practical American sense.

On Einstein's relativity theory:

...magnificent mathematical garb which fascinates, dazzles and makes people blind to the underlying errors. The theory is like a beggar clothed in purple whom ignorant people take for a king ... its exponents are brilliant men but they are metaphysicists rather than scientists ...[

Blog Post of a Filipino Bachelor

Well, it has been a while since I posted an article.

So far, this blog has been holding up pretty well in the SERP. Yes, the keyword phrase "Filipino Bachelor" is not really competitive but it still gives me satisfaction considering that my neighbors post updates quite regularly.

Till next post.

MyBlogLog verifies the legally-recycled bachelor

MyBlogLog requires this post for verification.

To claim this blog, I had spent almost 1 hour trying to remember my password to re-activate my Yahoo Philippines email.

Afterwards, I had to go through the submission process for those who have forgotten their MyBlogLog password. I have forgotten MyBlogLog account password since it has been 15 months since I last visited the site.

I have written the email account and password on paper, then linked the email to MyBlogLog account using OpenID.

I hope this turns out well.

A Filipino bachelor's bad hair(less) day and c-sat

The electric shaver resting on the table was purchased about 17 months ago. The purchase was due to low customer satisfaction (c-sat) everytime I had a haircut.

It had nothing to do with my barber's skills and customer service level. Instead, it had everything to do with my mother's genes.

Among all the good things that she has given, she also passed on her family's hairloom, alopecia.

Compounded by high stress levels, my hair line drastically receded a decade ago. BTW, it was also during this time I regained my preferred marital status, initiated by my, now, ex-wife.

I have never really enjoyed a hair cut, before, during and after since then.

So, 17 months ago, I had purchased and have been shaving my scalp using an electric shaver with a #4 attachment.

I not only have been saving on hair cut expenses, but I also found that not looking at the mirror dramatically increased my c-sat level!

* - The pay per click syndrome is similar to Tourette's and requires the presence of a mouse to manifest itself.

While the cause of the disease is still unknown, the disease is spread by a carrier called the monetization bug.

The palpable symptoms are the delirious and almost unstoppable desire to monetize a personal website during office hours.

If you are afflicted with the pay per click syndrome, please strictly follow the advice given in this post on curing the pay per click syndrome.

Fight Negativity in the Office - Tip # 2

Develop a healthy outlook to fight negativity in the workplace.

God sent the office kontrabida to strengthen your faith in Him. The office kontrabida is the burden, the heavy cross needed for your purification.

Whenever the office kontrabida acts up, sincerely tell him/her this.

"Every time you do that, I am reminded that God loves me! Teynks!"

Fight Negativity in the Office - Tip # 1

An article written by Michael Tan touched on the office kontrabida.

The office kontrabida sows intrigues, fosters negativity in the workplace and demoralizes productive employees.

Mike Tan stresses the futility of dealing with the office kontrabida on your own.

Mike may be right but a hardworking employee can still fight a guerrilla war to counter negativity in the workplace.

Start by printing and distributing this leaflet to your colleagues, excluding, of course, the office kontrabida.

Hopefully - The Fear Factor

I got to talk to a banker while attending a wedding last week. The banker, a c-level executive of a global bank (top 5 worldwide), and I were school mates. I have known him to be a generous guy since high school, even sharing rare, unfiltered cigarettes with our barkada.

I mentioned that I am sourcing manpower for their outsourcing division. This started our conversation about outsourcing in general and the positive effect it has on local employment.

Eventually, I just had to ask how well the Philippines will do this year. He is hopeful that we will overcome the challenges by the second semester. He is also hopeful that the first quarter of this year will be okay.

Coming from him, the word hopeful made me afraid.

This year will be challenging for all of us but I, too, am hopeful.
